About Galveston County Adoption Day Foundation

Galveston County Adoption Day Foundation (GCADF)  is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization. Our primary goal is to assure that children do not linger in foster care due to the inability of adoptive families to afford the adoption process. The adoption day event is a huge celebration for the families and friends of those being adopted.

Our mission is to see every child in the permanent managing conservatorship of CPS adopted! We want to assist families in the adoption process so that kids have permanency!

GCADF is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including:

  • creating and providing information to promote the need for foster and adoptive homes,
  • need to place children in permanent home environments and promoting, and
  • coordinating pro bono adoption services

We will celebrate our 20 year anniversary in 2023 and are looking forward to many more successful events uniting families!

National Adoption Day (NAD), (www.nationaladoptionday.org), began nationally in California in 2000, and locally in Galveston County in 2004, (with the Foundation receiving 501(c)(3) status in 2007).  Its purpose is to help children who are in the custody of Children’s Protective Services due to physical and emotional abuse and who are currently with families who are ready to finalize their adoption but are unable to afford the adoption process.

During the event, the participating families appear before the presiding judge to finalize their adoption and legally become a family. Many attorneys who practice in our area, local judges, the Galveston County District Clerk, and a host of volunteers from our community will donate their time, talents and services to help finalize adoptions for these families. Giving children permanency and stability with loving families is the best gift we can provide. Since its inception in Galveston County, the Foundation has facilitated the adoption of over 250 children.

In providing this service, we will also be organizing a day of celebration complete with food, entertainment and gifts to the families to commemorate the occasion.

All donations to the foundation are tax deductible. You may contribute by making your monetary donation to the Galveston County Adoption Day Foundation, P.O. Box 3203, Galveston, Texas 77552.  All checks should be made payable to the “Galveston County Adoption Day Foundation”.
